Mohamad (Mo) Kasti is the Chief Transformation Officer at USF Health. He is currently the Executive Director of the Center for Transformation and Innovation dedicated to accelerating organizations’ success through transformation of strategy, leadership and management, process improvement and culture. The Center for Transformation and Innovation translates best practices in leadership, strategy, efficiencies, quality, safety, customer service, marketing, development, and communication. The center has successfully helped many local, national and international organizations.
Mo is an energetic and creative leader with proven successes. With more than 23 years of experience in healthcare and leadership, Mo has a keen ability to conceive strategy, execute business plans and deliver profitable results. In 2005, he innovated the nationally recognized USF Leadership Institute that provides creative and practical leadership development strategies that change the DNA of effective leaders.
A leader in business transformation, Mo was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for USF Health where he facilitated the “changing the DNA of Healthcare” transformation by integrating the colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, and the USF Physicians Group into USF Health, an entrepreneurial academic model with $500 millions in revenue. As COO, he oversaw the design, development and implementation of the outpatient strategy which included the building of 400,000 square feet, $100Million outpatient facilities. Mo and his team also reengineered clinical and administrative programs, including Electronic Medical record implementation, to improve patient experience and safety and deliver better quality and efficiency.
Prior to joining USF, Mo spent ten years with General Electric Healthcare (NYSE: GE), a top Fortune magazine’s most admired company and #1 market leader in diagnostic equipment and services with $165 Billion in revenue. Mohamad started in sales where he was ranked #1 in the country two years in a row with more than $125 million in sales. Then, he was promoted to various roles including product development, marketing, sales management and operations, operations manager of a $2 billion dollar billing center, and Six Sigma Quality Leader delivering more than $50 Million in performance improvement.
Before joining GE, Mo worked with two major multi-billion dollar healthcare corporations, namely Steris and Amsco, and was a healthcare administrator at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio where he led the re-engineering of the hospital services.
Mo has a Masters degree in Biomedical and Clinical Engineering and Healthcare Administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He has also earned numerous awards as a coach, trainer, and speaker on leadership development and holds many patents. Mo has achieved certification as Master Black Belt (MBB) in Lean Six Sigma and Master Change Agent (MCA) in Change Management. He is a sought after speaker on strategy, leadership, management transformation, and effective process improvement. He was past vice president of the American College of Clinical Engineering and is fluent in three languages.
Mohamad is married with two young boys and lives in Tampa, Florida, USA.
